And the award goes to...

Today my good bloggy friend, whom I am looking forward to meeting someday in real life for coffee, Melody, nominated me for my first blog award. Woo-hoo! This is the "Making Lemonade out of Lemons" Award (I'm not sure if that's the official name but I thought it was fitting).

The ladies I have chosen to nominate are women who know the Lord intimately and in one way or another encourage me in my daily walk with Christ. They motivate me to be a better wife and I have learned so much from their journey. So without further adieu, I present to you my nominees:

Rebekah at Heart Cries

Congratulations ladies! If you would like to accept his award, simply do the following:

  • Put the lemonade logo on your blog or post.
  • Nominate at least 10 blogs with great attitude or gratitude. (I'm a law breaker!)
  • Link the nominees within your post.
  • Let the nominees know they have received this award by commenting on their blog.
  • Share the love and link to the person whom you received this award from.

My Doesn't Count List by Jon Acuff

Some of you may already know that I am a huge "Stuff Christians Like" follower. I really enjoy reading Jon Acuff's blog and today was no exception.

His Wednesday post was about the not so Christian things that we as believers. Although we know they are wrong we try to justify them by saying in Jon's words, "that doesn't really count". Some of the examples Jon gives are speeding, using the internet at work while on company time, being in destructive relationships, using recreational drugs, etc.

This was my response on his blog:

I totally have that "Doesn't Count List"...sometimes for me the temptation is to compare myself to non-believers and say, "I can't believe so and so does that and look at me. I don't do any of that. I do this and this and this." But that's not what I know God has called me to do as a believer. I am not there to judge others rather I have been called to love them and live a life above reproach.

My DCL includes: spending too much time on Facebook (internet), picking up a magazine at the grocery store while waiting to pay and comparing myself to celebrities, hanging around with people that say things I know are wrong and not standing up for what I believe is right, wanting to use the money God has entrusted me with in my own way and disregard how he wants me to use it (My husband and I tithe regularly but what I mean is that many times I want to be greedy with the 90% I have when I know God wants me to bless others with it). My DCL list also includes most of the ones you've mentioned with the exception of using drugs...that was a really good list, Jon.

Thank you for your honesty! God is using you incredibly.

P.S. - If you don't mind, I'd like to link your post to my blog.

One a Day

My newest and one of my funniest blogger friends, Melody has suggested that I update my blog daily. Since I am on summer vacation and have all this time on my hands (I don't mean that in a sarcastic way at all, it's the truth!) I've decided that this is a challenge worth taking.

My first "One a Day" blog post will consist of a brief questionnaire. My favorite day of the week has been Friday ever since I can remember which also happens to be the day of the week I was born on. I am wondering if there is any correlation between the day we are born on and our favorite day of the week? I am assuming that everyone in my sample (can you tell I am taking a research course?) has a favorite day of the week.

Here are your questions:

1. What is your favorite day of the week?
2. What day were you born on?
3. Is there any correlation between your day of birth and your favorite day of the week? (i.e. Were you born on your favorite day of the week or is it the day you dislike the most?)

Happy Findings!

Welcome to the newest blogger...

A very big welcome to a new blogger, Carolina. She is a beautiful woman whom I had the privilege of meeting through my hubby four years ago. Carol, I'm looking forward to reading what God is doing in and through you.

Guys, check out her blog. She's got some great stuff posted already. And don't forget to show her some "blogger love".
