Quote Worthy: It's My Turn

It has been said that "behind every great man, there is a great woman" and this is indeed the case in the life of Billy Graham. Ruth Graham was a woman who possessed an incredible amount of wisdom, patience, and understanding. It is evident not only through the pages of this book, It's My Turn, but through the fruit of her labor which lives on today through her husband's ministry, her children and grandchildren.

It's My Turn is not your average book for more than one reason. First of all, Ruth was not your average woman. She lived an extraordinary life and had a unique calling. Secondly, this book is filled with truths she shares candidly from her heart. Most of which she learned through time, experience and undoubtedly, an intimate relationship with the Lord.

I encourage any woman who has a husband in the ministry to read this book. Here are just a few of my favorite quotes.

"A Christian wife's responsibility balances delicately between knowing when to submit and when to outwit. Adapting to our husband never implies the annihilation of our creativity, rather the blossoming of it."

"Since the Christian's Point of Reference is the Bible, it's a happy couple who look there for guidance."

"Since every man is different, needs will vary. So it is up to the wife to study her own husband to discover how she can best meet those needs. "

"It is a foolish woman who expects her husband to be to her that which only Jesus Christ Himself can be: always ready to forgive, totally understanding, unendingly patient, invariably tender and loving, unfailing in every area, anticipating every need, and making more than adequate provision. Such expectations put a man under an impossible strain."

"Those who abandon ship the first time it enters a storm miss the calm beyond. And the tougher the storms weathered together, the deeper and stronger real love grows."

"Love is not only the "union of two good forgivers' but also the 'union of two good appreciators.'

"Worship and worry cannot live in the same heart: they are mutually exclusive."

"Buildings fall into decay and eventually disappear. The transformed life goes on forever."
