They got hitched!

Just a couple of months ago a good friend of ours, Alina Isis called to tell us she was getting married. I can't begin to express how happy I was for her when I spoke to her on that day.

Alina and Genrry got hitched yesterday. It all took place at Kennedy Park in Coconut Grove at 1:30 pm in the afternoon. Their wedding was absolutely perfect (or at least as close to perfection as is possible)! One of my favorite things was to see how their emphasis was not on the actual wedding but on the fact that they were coming together as husband and wife and inviting God to be at the center of their marriage.

Mr. and Mrs. Martinez we are so honored to have been able to share in one of the most important days in your life. We are looking forward to many more dinner nights together. We love you dearly.

awww... That looked like a super sweet ceremony!

If I ever get married, that's eggggsactly how I want it to be. Not about the wedding, but about two people coming together as husband and wife! I know it may sound cheesy so bear with me, but isn't it the most romantic notion for two people to decide they want to spend the rest of their lives as each others' side? ... And I think when you start making a big fuss about the wedding, dress, invitiations, etc.. that sentiment gets lost in the shuffle.

I realize I've never planned a wedding and so I have no first hand knowledge, but I've been part of a few and that seems to be the case.

I'm not discounting elaborate weddings nor am I implying that you'll always get that result, I'm just saying it's a challenge to keep that perspective and one that I probably don't have the energy for!

So if it ever happens for me, I want it to be simple, fun, and insanely romantic. =)

Simply lovely!!

EmCee, I suppose the "romantic notion" could get misplaced while planning a wedding (no matter the size)... but there's hope that it doesn't.

I had the big wedding and loved planning every moment with my mother and grandmother. My groom had some say so, and he was good with that. 11 years forward, we are still madly in love and enjoy one another very much. I wouldn't change our 18 year friendship for the world. He's truly my heart and I'm forever his =)

Congrats to Alina and Genrry. I truly hope you have a happily ever after blessed of God!!
